February 8th – Koko Head Elementary School’s Fundraiser
Six Lions and a CIS were up to their ankles in more glass bottles, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles than you can count on February 7, 2024 at Koko Head Elementary School. Throughout the year, the school receives donations of recyclable cans and bottles (and some trash) in large cages sitting in front of the school. Once a quarter or so, the full cages are emptied and parents, faculty (including Principal Shitaoka), students, and Lions separate the glass bottles, plastic bottles, aluminum cans and nonrecyclable items and bag each type separately. With many hands, the work was done quickly and efficiently.
Joining in the fun were CIS Hedy Kaneoka, Lions Kelvin Kaneoka, Marja Leivo, Diane Taira, Susan Uehara, and Frances Lum. Even Lion Appan Subramanian, who is preparing to move to the West Coast soon, made time to participate in one last project before taking off. Thank you to all for helping in this project that raises money to benefit the Koko Head Elementary School Ohana.
