April 12th – Hawaii Kai Library Donation
The Hawaii Kai Lions Club and our sister club in Japan, the Nagoya Joto Lions, have a long history of supporting the Hawaii Kai Library. Our Club’s annual donation of $500.00 has typically been matched by the Nagoya club with their monetary donations.
On April 9, 2024, our members were introduced to the Librarian, Coleen Lashway, who welcomed us and thanked us for the support and donations our club has given to the library.
She spoke of how the donations have allowed for the purchase of many books and ethnic materials outside of the library’s budget.
Club President Yolisa then presented the Librarian with our Club’s check for $1,000.00. Photos were taken and then some of our Club members stayed to look at the Japanese art and creative works the Nagoya Lions had gifted to the library.
Lions participating included Marja Leivo, Yolisa Ishibashi, Ellsworth Fujii, Ken Nishibun, Nancy Rocheleau, Roy Aoki, Martin Jorgensen, and CIS Lyn Yee.
