April 8th – Helping to Promote Learning at Koko Head Elementary School
Students at Koko Head Elementary School are learning digital skills using BBC micro:bit kits in their computer science program. Hawaii Kai Lions donated 4 such kits. These little devices are pocket-sized computers that can sense, measure, and log such things as sound, movement, and magnetism. They can be programmed to do a variety of things like creating fitness trackers, virtual pets, and remote-controlled vehicles. The next tech giant may be among those Koko Head students.
But learning does not only happen at the high-tech level. Nine sets of Crayola dry erase markers were also donated for students to use in math class. Those colorful markers should make learning a lot of fun.
