July 18 – Hale Ike Ola o Maunalua (Pohaku Workday) Project
Brave and strong Hawaii Kai Lions volunteered to collect and relocate 1,000 pohaku (stone) from Kamilo Valley to the new Keawawa Wetland Hale (home).
More than 1,000 pohaku were hand-picked with aloha in a matter of a couple hours, loaded into buckets and trucked to the Hale. Kumu Francis Sineci with the blessing of Kamehameha Schools chose the river bed at Aloha Aina o Kamilo Nui Nursery for the pohaku gathering.
