June 1st – 50th Anniversary Certificate from the Hawaii State Legislature
On June 1, 2023, five Hawaii Kai Lions Club officers received a 50th Anniversary Certificate from the Hawaii State Legislature in Senator Stanley Chang’s office at the State Capitol. The certificate was signed by forty Hawaii representatives and senators within the legislature.
Senator Chang represents the State Senate District 9, which includes Hawaii Kai to Diamond Head. Previously, he introduced a bill to exempt landowners from civil liability if rescue tubes were located on their property. This bill was passed and became a law on July 6, 2018, and he has a rescue tube displayed in his office.
Lions participating in this event included Silvia Ardila, Kendrick Chang, Ellsworth Fujii, Yolisa Ishibashi, and Frances Lum.
It was great that our club was recognized by the Hawaii State Legislature for our 50 years as the Hawaii Kai Lions Club and that we sponsor and organize events throughout the year, as well as being “a vital resource that continues to promote service and camaraderie that strengthens Hawaii Kai”. Thank you to all of you who make our club so outstanding!
