March 24th – Hawaii Kai Lions Sign Waving for Traffic Safety
On March 24, 2023, Hawaii Kai Lions joined the Community Policing Team of District 7 East Honolulu led by Corporal John Mau, to promote safe and responsible driving around Hahaione Elementary School.
Seven Lions met at 7:10am to receive instructions and signs.- They then joined HPD Officer Mau and his team in sign waving for approximately one hour. The signs, provided by HPD, bore different safety messages including “No Need to Speed”, “No Texting While Driving”, “Drunk Driving is Deadly”, and “No Second Chance”.
Lions participating in this event included Joni Fukuji, Yolisa Ishibashi, David Iwana, Bill Kern, Walter Kuroiwa, Marja Leivo, Ken Nishibun.
Principal Shannon “Cappy” Goo expressed his appreciation for the work of the HPD and the Hawaii Kai Lions in continuing this very worthwhile safety project.
