May 2014 President’s Message

Greetings Fellow Lions,

Where did the time go? It is time for another Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast. To me it seems like just yesterday I was putting together my breakfast committee and now I am talking to Lion Peggy about her breakfast committee. This time of year we all pull together for the thousand and one jobs that will need doing. First on the list for most of us is selling tickets. Lion Ken has once again organized canvassing on Sundays, except for Mother’s Day. Please meet at Burger King at eight a.m. for a quick breakfast or cup of coffee and then hit the streets with your fellow lions for a nice walk and sell your tickets the easy way. For those of you opposed to walking Lion Tom has arranged some days for selling tickets at Hawaii Kai Shopping Center. Please see dates and times at the web site. Time will be spent on the Pancake Breakfast at both of our meetings in May so be sure to show up to get your assignments for the breakfast and to keep up with all the changing arrangements.

Lion Kaz thanks again for an awesome Charter Night Celebration. Your hotel really rolls out the welcome mat and everybody had a good time. Thanks also to the other members of your committee who helped you put everything together. Thank you also goes out to Lion Richard for organizing our annual library donation and to Lion Ken for organizing the charter golf game.

Lastly, if you do not think the future is here you need to go to the Hawaii Kai Library and see the book translator donated by the Nagoya Lions. From what I could tell it can read books in sixty different languages and translate them to English and then read them back to you just by gliding it over the pages. Our sister club lions always bring the neatest things for the library and all of their donations are unique and thoughtful. Thank you Nagoya Lions for coming and celebrating our birthday with us and for helping us support our community.
